My daughter is 13 and it seems like about this age kids seem to get busy with activities, she is a middle school cheerleader from August till December than she goes to a All star cheer team from January till June plus runs track and does dance it seems like were on the road 24 hours a day i feel that after school activities is a good thing but i
was just wondering what other people thoughts were on after school activities.
My son swims everyday and has meets on the weekends. He used to play soccer too. My theory is that if they are not involved in after school activities they will find things to do that could get them in trouble (sex, drugs, etc.). I plan to keep mine busy. Just make sure they are enjoying whatever they are doing. We took him out of soccer because he wasn't having fun anymore.

I wish my parents would drive me to lessons and sports without giving me crap. i'm greatful for it, but i feel like if you have the time and money you should be able to get your kids to lessons withohut making them feel bad. it sounds like a lot of stuff though.

There are articles you should read about over scheduling kids and how fast it burns them out and whatnot. My kids do activities but it does not take over their life like it sounds like is going on with you. She needs to have time to be a kids too so tell her to slow down.

I love them, because it keeps kids from becoming addicted to pointless things like television. And it helps kids grow both physically and mentally. Though sometimes things may get crazy because of them, your doing the right thing.

I am a teen, and I think that it is good for us. As long as it is not overkill, it is fun. I do taekwondo, and it seems like its always school and taekwondo we are doing, we are pretty busy, but I think its great, it keeps us in shape, and out of trouble.

Last fall, my 6 year old's schedule was something like this:
Sunday – church choir
Monday – overloaded with homework
Tuesday – soccer practice
Wednesday – AWANA (church)
Thursday – soccer practice
Friday – Finally an evening of peace!
Saturday – Soccer game
Her activities kept both of us VERY busy. She wants to sign up for basketball or something this year but I don't know. I love for her to get exercise and play with other kids! But it seems like there aren't enough hours left in the day after work.

i am not a mother.
but i am a daughter
and
this is my typical week
monday- homework/free time
tuesday- environmental club (everyother tuesday) (2;45-3:30)
wednesday- art club( 2:45- 4:00)
thursday-builders club (but i might quit this one) (2:45- ?)
friday- free time/hang with friends.
so some weeks are busier than others.
but i love all the clubs i am in, except for buliders, which is why i might be quitting.

He has three a week.
Karate class Monday 6:30 – 7:30
Beaver Scouts Wednesday 6:00 – 7:30
Swimming Lesson Friday 4:00 – 5:00
I don't like Beavers being at that time since I don't get home from work until 5:40, so I have to get in, grab him and bustle him right out the door. I don't feel like I see him on Wednesdays, but he loves all three of his groups and he doesn't want to give any of them up.
They are all within 10 minutes walk of the house though so it's all easy. We stay at swimming and Karate, but we drop him at Beavers on his own and come home for an hour.
