Hi, my 12 year old daughter would like to take up cooking, she has been watching me bake, and cook dinner for about 2 months with ought saying a word, then she asked me if I could teach her to cook, I though it would be a great way to bond, so I was wondering if there is a website that alloys you to cook online — like a virtual game that she can play so she can learn how to cook and learn responsibilities and learn how to take care of a fire or something, before she uses a real oven or stove, then I can teach her beyond that.
I don

Hey, i'm 15 years old. Well anyways.. That is great!! I'm in a Professional Baking Class at my Technical High School. & she can learn at any age.. Like if you make mash potatoes or something.. Just YOU cut everything up & do all of the dangerous work, like work with a knife & all of that & then let her do easy stuff, like mix and maybe like clean up a little like wash the dishes, i mean that isn't really cooking. But thats what we have to do inn my shop, you make a mess you clean it up. So just teach her that kind of stuff first, just go one step at a time, this might not be much help, but just giving you my opinion.

Playing on the internet is NOT cooking, and it won't be bonding either.
Get yourself and daughter into the kitchen and help her make some simple 'kid stuff' meals slowly graduating to more complicated cookery.

why don't you just teach her yourself!
i mean, did you learn to cook from a video game?
how about you go over the basics of the safety stuff first, like using baking soda or a fire extinguisher on a grease fire, etc. how to smell the gas when the pilot light is out (if you use gas) etc.
then, start out with something simple like cookies or rice krispie treats.
have her stir the gravy next time you make a turkey or roast. get her to help measure the ingerdients for you. teach her how to time the food so everything is done at the same time.
just dive in mom…you don't need a video game to mother your kid! just do it!!
oh and have fun:)

Let her be your sous-chef, your copilot. It's more fun than doing it on the computer, and you will get quality time with her. Since she's already 12, you can give her tasks that are more involved than you could with a 5 year old, so it will be interesting for her. Let her cook with you side-by-side, and have her learn to prepare the everyday things that you make for the family. She'll never forget the recipes, or the time spent with you. She'll tell her kids, as she cooks with them, "I learned this from my mom…."

Teach her in real time. My mother taught me to cook and bake before I was your daughter's age and I'm male. No point in learning virtual cookery or baking -you want to eat what you made- get her involved in making lunch or dinner. Start with simple meals and work up to making full meals from scratch. Get a good recipe book and help her to make some great meals. Not enough people can cook or bake nowadays. Good luck!!

I think that's a great idea, I'm a Chef and I encourage my kids to cook..we all need to learn.
But I'm not so happy about her learning 'virtual' cooking, I don't think it helps.
I suggest you let her help you when you cook.
You can tell her about fire hazards and food hygiene..she will learn much more being hands on from you.
My son is 14 now and I quite happily let him cook tea for him and his sister…he is very good too.

The best way is for her to just cook WITH you. Have her help by washing vegetables, stirring, mixing, etc.
Over the summer looks into courses in your area geared for kids.

Twelve is old enough that you can skip the virtual cooking. Just teach her yourself. Show her where the fire extinguisher is, and how to use it. Have her cook along with you. She can cut things up, use a mixer, grease cake pans, etc. My kids are 11 & 14, and cook all the time.

I'm not sure but playing on the Internet isn't going to help your daughter learn how to cook. Sign her up for home economics class next school year and take her into the kitchen and start teaching her how to cook. It will be a good way to bond and teach her one of her duties as a wife when she is married.
